OOD: Colour With Colour
Note: This video was made because I accepted the challenge to nominate myself for the Trinny Awards by Trinny Woodall on Instagram, for on two categories:
BEST OOTD & MOST IMPRESSIVE LIFT EXIT.
The contest took place on the 22nd of January. However, I liked the idea of “Most Impressive lift exit” so much that I decided to make out of it a regular column. So thank you Trinny for being so inspiring!
Today’s outfit is a striking statement with colour block & leopard. I decided to step away from the “black zone” with a bold choice. I started building my outfit with the tulle skirt which is made by me. For me, tulle skirts become a sort of classic you can wear them all seasons and they literally go with everything. Also, they are very easy to DIY all you need to do is to buy about 19ft, fold it in 4, on wide, sew the ends and add an elastic of about 1-1.5 inch wide on the waist. The very slim elastics do not look that good, believe me, because I already did 4 of this type of skirts so I experimented with different wide types of elastic. If any of you would be interested in how to DIY a tulle skirt just let me know and I will put together a video tutorial.
The ZARA leopard coat I bought it on sales and I believe is from two years ago collection and I paid about 20 GBP. I discovered that leopard print goes better with bold colours. It just brings out the richness and the brightness of the colours, hence, I pair it up with a daffodil yellow top, having that nice detail around the collar. This top is extremely cute, apart from the colour is having those details at sleeve ends as well and the sleeve is 3/4 length, which I adore it.
All I can say about my shoes is they are MARVELLOUS!!! I got them as a gift from my BFF hence, I’m not missing any occasion to thank her. The holographic greenish/ blueish colour just steals the show! Are the type of shoes you feel like waring even when going to sleep.
For makeup, I ensured the clothes do not wear me and I wear them instead so I opted for a fuchsia with a slight metal shade lip tone.
My entire look cost is about £70, I wanted to point this out because I find it important for people to understand that there’s no need to spend a fortune in order to create a stand out outfit. You don’t have to be the slave to the fashion trends. More important than the trends, which do nothing but regiment us, is the individuality of each one. Expressing yourself, personality and creativity of each of us are what’s define the style.
Lately, I choose to wear colours with colours as often as I can because they just make me happy. They boost my energy level and my mood all together!
What makes you happy?
I was declared the winner of the MOST IMPRESSIVE LIFT EXIT category and for me, this was a great recognition of my potential and the most important so far also, a confirmation that enrolling on London College of Style personal stylist courses was the best decision I could possibly make. Coming from Trinny which for those who do not know her yet, is having a huge experience in the field and which opinion I validate enormously it literally means the world for me. She is such an inspiration in all the way as a stylist, beauty innovator with her “rethink your routine” products, as a mother, woman and businesswoman. If you would like to see the ceremony you can check it here or if you would like to follow Trinny Woodall on Instagram you can do it here.
So for me, #TrinnyAwards trophy is my Oscar!
