My way to wear the boater hat

My way to wear the boater hat

EN: Is it from France? is it from Italy? Guess! what a riddle this is.

When I composed this outfit, I was thinking of beautiful Italy and oh how I dreamed so nice. What do you think? My friend Iuliana and the one who is taking my photos (for the general public) said:
“- You look so French today!” Va Va Voom!

So I decided, to do some research in order to find out when and where these boater hat appeared.
I was quite surprised to discover that it was coming from far away America and was initially carried by men. Pam Pam!

“Especially popular at the late 19th century and the early 20th century, they were popular as summer hats, especially for boating or sailing, hence the name.” An absolute curiosity is that the boater hat “was worn by the FBI agents as a sort of unofficial uniform in the pre-war years.” It was later begun to be adopted by women who wore needles to keep it fixed.

To mention, this hat was considered a formal hat so that it required a dress code such as black tie.

John Jacob Astor IV was known to wear such hats. American businessman and one of the richest men of his time (1864 – 1912) alas, found his end after choosing to travel on the ill-fated Titanic!

About the dress I can say is one of the soul pieces from my wardrobe. It was my mother’s dress from her civil wedding, so as it turned out this dress is “older” than I’m :))) Initially it was long but I opted for a medium length. I’m absolutely in love with this dress since forever, it’s print has fascinated me. Still, it took me 33 years to convince my mom to give it to me.

Probably she expected me to reach the required maturity to deserve it and be able to cherish it

Until next time stay fashion!

From Romania with love!

Ghici ghicitoare ce-i!

Prietena mea Iuliana si cea care-mi face fotografiile (pentru publicul larg), cand m-a vazut mi-a zis:

Pana data viitoare ramaneti in tendinte!

Din Iasi, cu dragoste!
